Built in the 1940s, Alvalade maintains the charm of a typically Portuguese local neighborhood, but with a modern side, safe, peaceful and with a welcoming atmosphere, with beautiful avenues, small local shops, supermarkets and typical Portuguese coffee shops (cafés), making this project a great investment.
The building, markedly industrial and with a three fronts facade, comprises 5 apartments’ floors, 1 rooftop floor with swimming pool, gym and bar and reading room areas, 1 commercial floor and 3 underground parking floors. The intervention on the facade will maintain the industrial era, on the one hand, and bring the new and modernized uses on the other.
A unique project, designed by the awarded architect Manuel Aires Mateus, with an interior patio and garden terraces. Designed for apartments T 1 , T 2 and T 3 for housing on the upper floors, the front is made with sheets of continuous mirrored glass that, with the intensity of Lisbon’s light, will disappear into the urban landscape, offering natural light. The rooftop, with swimming pool, will have access to spacious terraces, gym, bar and reading room, enjoying a privileged city landscape.
With a total of 103 spaces distributed over 3 floors of private underground parking. The garden terraces, located in the interior patio of the building, is common to all apartments facing that orientation, creating a magnificent landscape of private vegetation and benefiting the apartments with natural light.

Manuel Aires Mateus is one of the most recognized Portuguese architects and author of dozens of unique projects, built from scratch or renovated. Born in Lisbon and a world traveler, he likes to include memories that he collects in his works. With a trait that takes us back to contemplative silence, he makes us believe that his works are suspended in some ethereal space. The works ranging from the mythical Casa de Areia, in Comporta, to the headquarters of EDP, in Lisbon, passing through museum spaces, residential and commercial buildings and houses, come new creations such as tables, chairs and other pieces that will adjust to the inside of their structures.
In 2013, Manuel was a finalist for the Mies van der Rohe Prize. In 2014, he won the competition for the Muslim Center of Bordeaux, in France. In 2017, he won the Pessoa Prize. And, recently, he was announced as the winner of the competition for the construction of the extension of the new entrance to the Museum des Augustins, in Toulouse, France. In addition, the architect is a professor at the Lusíada University and at the Independent University of Lisbon.
